Obama agency rules Pepsi’s use of aborted fetal cells in soft drinks constitutes ‘ordinary business operations’

(NaturalNews) The Obama Administration has given its blessing to PepsiCo to continue utilizing the services of a company that produces flavor chemicals for the beverage giant using aborted human fetal tissue. LifeSiteNews.com reports that the Obama Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) has decided that PepsiCo’s arrangement with San Diego, Cal.-based Senomyx, which produces flavor enhancing chemicals for Pepsi using human embryonic kidney tissue, simply constitutes “ordinary business operations.”

The issue began in 2011 when the non-profit group Children of God for Life (CGL) first broke the news about Pepsi’s alliance with Senomyx, which led to massive outcry and a worldwide boycott of Pepsi products. At that time, it was revealed that Pepsi had many other options at its disposal to produce flavor chemicals, which is what its competitors do, but had instead chosen to continue using aborted fetal cells — or as Senomyx deceptively puts it, “isolated human taste receptors”

A few months later, Pepsi’ shareholders filed a resolution petitioning the company to “adopt a corporate policy that recognizes human rights and employs ethical standards which do not involve using the remains of aborted human beings in both private and collaborative research and development agreements.” But the Obama Administration shut down this 36-page proposal, deciding instead that Pepsi’s used of aborted babies to flavor its beverage products is just business as usual, and not a significant concern.

“We’re not talking about what kind of pencils PepsiCo wants to use — we are talking about exploiting the remains of an aborted child for profit,” said Debi Vinnedge, Executive Director of CGL, concerning the SEC decision. “Using human embryonic kidney (HEK-293) to produce flavor enhancers for their beverages is a far cry from routine operations!”

To be clear, the aborted fetal tissue used to make Pepsi’s flavor chemicals does not end up in the final product sold to customers, according to reports — it is used, instead, to evaluate how actual human taste receptors respond to these chemical flavorings. But the fact that Pepsi uses them at all when viable, non-human alternatives are available illustrates the company’s blatant disregard for ethical and moral concerns in the matter.

Back in January, Oklahoma Senator Ralph Shortey proposed legislation to ban the production of aborted fetal cell-derived flavor chemicals in his home state. If passed, S.B. 1418 would also reportedly ban the sale of any products that contain flavor chemicals derived from human fetal tissue, which includes Pepsi products as well as products produced by Kraft and Nestle

Media finally paying attention to eligibility?

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Poll after poll in recent months has indicated that Americans have a high level of concern over Barack Obama’s eligibility to be president, with one poll showing fully half of the nation wants Congress to investigate the question.

But reporters for the traditional media – networks, major newspapers, major news corporations and conglomerates – mostly have giggled when talk turns to the serious question of just what the U.S. Constitution requires of presidents.

Nevertheless, media organizations from all political persuasions are seeking admittance to a news conference to be held by Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz.

The event is tomorrow at 1 p.m. Mountain Standard Time in Phoenix, 3 p.m. Eastern, and will be live-streamed by WND.

The topic of discussion will be an investigation by Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse into concerns about Obama’s eligibility. It’s the first time an official law enforcement report has addressed many of the allegations about the presumptive 2012 Democratic nominee for president.

The issues include Obama’s eligibility under the U.S. Constitution’s requirements, questions about his use of a Connecticut Social Security number and the image of his purported birth certificate from Hawaii.

Top national media organizations have indicated their plans to attend, and bookings for radio and television reports are in the works. Expected are reporters from the Associated Press, Reuters, Univision, the Washington Times and NBC, CBS and ABC affiliates, as well statewide radio networks, among many others.

Because of the circumstances, a decision was made to hold the press conference at the sheriff’s training center on the outskirts of Phoenix, rather than at the downtown office.

The event is expected to draw protesters who object to the sheriff’s office review of allegations that Obama may attempt to use a fraudulent document to have his name placed on the 2012 presidential election ballot in Arizona.

Without releasing any details, Arpaio has said the findings “could be a shock.”

He constituted a special five-member law enforcement posse last year to investigate allegations brought by members of the Surprise, Ariz., Tea Party that the Obama birth certificate released to the public by the White House on April 27 might be a forgery.

The posse is made up of three former law enforcement officers and two retired attorneys with law enforcement experience. Members have been examining evidence since September concerning Obama’s eligibility to be president under Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution, which requires a president to be a natural-born citizen.

Among other issues, there also have been allegations of Obama’s use of a Social Security number that corresponds to a Connecticut address, even though the president apparently had no links there.

WND earlier reported a private investigation found that the Social Security number being used by Obama does not pass a check with E-Verify, the electronic system the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has created to verify whether or not someone is authorized to work legally in the country.

Arpaio’s investigation is the first official law enforcement look at the allegations surrounding Obama’s eligibility. Many of the private investigators who have examined it contend there are too many questionable circumstances to believe that everything regarding Obama is above-board.

Arpaio previously told WND that when he launched his Cold Case Posse it was with the possibility that he would clear Obama.

He said it wasn’t an issue he could ignore, after 250 members of the tea party organization “came to me and asked their sheriff to investigate Obama and the birth certificate.”

It’s been a busy fortnight for this Arizona sheriff and Mitt Romney aide, who has come out as gay, denied threatening to deport his ex-lover to Mexico and promised to continue his bid for Congress.

Now Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, 43, is fighting allegations he dated a 17-year-old male student while he was head of the now-closed DeSisto School in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, a decade ago.

The boarding school used controversial discipline methods such as ‘sheeting’, which forced students to remove their clothes and wear only a sheet, according to former students and state records.

Sheriff Babeu was headmaster from 1999 to 2001 at a time when the school for troubled teenagers was probed by state childcare officials for repeated abuse allegations, reported ABC affiliate KNXV.

Former student Holli Nielsen said the school was ‘cult-like’ and she had to spend her 16th birthday wearing nothing but a sheet. State documents also alleged students ‘strip searched’ each other.

They also ‘routinely took group showers’ leading to sexual abuse, the documents said. Students said being ‘cornered’, where they had to sit and face the wall for hours, was the worst punishment.

The state probe forced the school to be shut down three years after Sheriff Babeu left. His sister claimed to KNXV she remembered a student living with him, whom he described as his ‘boyfriend’.

Although eight former students claim Sheriff Babeu had a relationship with the student, both men deny any inappropriate or sexual bond at the school. But the student said they remained friends.

At 17 the boy was within the state legal age of consent. A spokesman for Sheriff Babeu said he was never targeted by any probe or lawsuit and was known for restoring the school’s financial stability.

‘Sheriff Babeu never had a sexual relationship with a student,’ he told the Los Angeles Times. ‘A student has never lived with Sheriff Babeu.’ The sheriff was not involved in discipline issues, he said.

The claims come after the notoriously anti-immigration aide to Republican presidential candidate Mr Romney left the campaign after he was accused of threatening to deport his ex-gay lover to Mexico.

The man, only identified as ‘Jose,’ claimed Sheriff Babeu threatened him with deportation if he ever disclosed their three-year relationship, reported the Phoenix New Times. Sheriff Babeu denied this.

He said all the accusations in the alternative weekly newspaper were ‘absolutely false, except to the issues that refer to me as being gay’ and arose to mar his chances of running for congress.

Sheriff Babeu, who served as the co-chair of Mr Romney’s campaign in Arizona, is seeking the GOP nomination for Arizona’s rural western fourth congressional seat.

The sheriff denied claims he tried to threaten the man with deportation if their past relationship was made public. Jose’s allegations were first published on Friday in the New Times.

The Department of Homeland Security is monitoring our social media activities to look for “Items Of Interest” (IOI) that could predict potential threats.

Animal uncovered a full list of terms the DHS looks for, and some of these words are pretty general.

Aside from names of government agencies, such as the DHS or the CIA, words like “dirty bomb,” “scammers,” “biological,” and even “pork” made the cut.

If your tweets or Facebook status updates are deemed questionable, the Media Monitoring Capability team may hand over your personal information to the DHS, perhaps even by phone if the situation is that urgent.

However, the DHS notes that its got an internal privacy policy that will eliminate Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from its string of aggregated tweets and updates, so they won’t entirely snoop on your private life – not unless you post a sentence full of dangerous keywords.

For example, a status like “Jake is shooting a video of himself destroying a plate of uncooked pork chops in China, that’s some food extremism, his toilet is going to be a disaster afterward” might land you in some hot water.

So take a gander at the full list and you might want to watch the way you’re expressing yourself on the web.

Mitt Romney has had a few awkward moments throughout the primary season. But few could match his speech to the Detroit Economic Club at Ford Field yesterday.

The 65,000-seat home of the National Football League’s Detroit Lions seemed like an odd choice of venue for an appearance in front of a crowd of just 1,250 people.

Mr Romney spoke from a podium on the 30-yard line of the football field in Detroit, Michigan, as the crowd, mostly men in suits, sat in chairs set up on the artificial turf.

The presidential hopeful has been turning his campaign message back to the economy as he tries to fend off rival Rick Santorum in crucial Michigan and Arizona primaries next week.

Mr Romney vowed to bring fundamental change to rebuild the U.S. economy with fiscally conservative policies, a message he hopes will help him make a comeback in the hard-hit state, where Mr Santorum is threatening to score an upset.

But the economic address became a lightning rod for Mr Romney’s odd ad libs.

In an attempt to counter his critics, Mr Romney emphasised his Michigan roots and love for the cars produced by the state’s auto industry.

The former private equity executive has taken some criticism in the state because he opposed an $81billion federal bailout credited with helping save the auto industry.

He pointed out that he drives a Ford Mustang and Chevrolet pickup truck, and that his wife, Ann ‘drives two Cadillacs, actually’ – a comment analysts said could alienate some blue-collar voters by reminding them of Mr Romney’s vast wealth.

Closing his speech, he said of Michigan: ‘You know, the trees are the right height, the streets are just right.’

The remark was met by puzzled murmurs in the otherwise silent stadium, the New York Daily News reported.

In what is definitely one of the more salacious plot twists of the 2012 race, Arizona’s Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu abruptly resigned from the Romney campaign this weekend in the wake of allegations that he threatened to have his former boyfriend deported if news of their affair went public.

The scandal has caused a major headache for Romney, just one week before Arizona’s Republican primary. Details of the alleged affair have captivated the state’s political community, not least because they read like a lurid dime-story novel:

According to the Phoenix New Times, which broke the story, Babeu and his ex, “Jose,” a man from central Mexico, met on the dating website gay.com in 2006, and carried on a secret romance until this past fall. Allegedly, their relationship soured when “Jose” learned that Babeu was meeting other men on the gay dating/hookup site adam4adam.com, using the alias “Studboi1.” Babeu later pressured “Jose” to sign a nondisclosure agreement about their relationship or face deportation, claiming that “Jose’s” visa was expired.

Immigration rights groups are now asking the Justice Department to investigate the allegations about the tough-talking border sheriff, who rivals Arizona’s infamous Sheriff Joe Arpaio in his hardline stance on illegal immigration.

In a press conference Saturday, Babeu acknowledged that he is gay, but denied “Jose’s” accusations. He broke ties with the Romney camp, saying that he didn’t want to the scandal to taint the presidential candidate.

Republican hopeful Ron Paul recently told an audience that he would consider tapping former Fox Business News host Judge Andrew Napolitano as his running mate.

“One time somebody asked me who I would consider and the name Judge Napolitano jumps right out at me,” Paul said to raucous cheers of approval.

“But when you think about the danger of mentioning one or two means that you’re not going to mention quite a few others that would certainly be qualified.” he said. “That’s a great story, you know, the fact that there are a lot of people now that are well known and well educated and know the issues and would do a very good job.”

Napolitano implicitly endorsed the Texas Congressman in January, saying “Only one man remains faithful to the principles of free market and small government. To the Constitution and to personal freedom. To defending the nation without being the world’s police force. Only one. You know who he is.”
